In Alfred Hitchcock’s daring cinematic experiment, two men attempt to prove they committed the perfect crime by strangling a former classmate to death just before hosting a dinner party. Hiding the body in a chest upon which they then arrange a buffet dinner, the pair welcome their guests, including the victim's oblivious fiancée and the college professor (James Stewart) whose lectures inadvertently inspired the killing

Released in 1948, Rope remains one of Hitchcock’s greatest technical achievements. Hitchcock shot Rope in real time, controversially using long shots and elaborate camera set-ups to create the illusion of one unbroken take. This was an industry first, paving the way for the use of longer takes in Hollywood while also discovering the tension that a long, sustained shot can ignite.

Rope was Hitchcock’s first film in Technicolor. Winner for Best Feature Film at the 1948 Faro Island Film Festival.

The Station Public House, downtown Auburn’s newest hot spot, offers a unique dining experience with over 8,000 square feet of outdoor space, diverse wine selection, 40 rotating taps, and a contemporary gastro pub menu. Picnic tables dotted throughout the beautifully landscaped garden offer the ideal venue for responsible social distancing while still providing a comfortable and cozy atmosphere – with misters for those hot summer nights.

The Station Public House derives its name from the historic trans-continental railroad station located just a stone's throw from the restaurant.

Patrons who would like dinner with their movie should arrive at least an hour early. Last call for food is at 8:30 PM, bar will be open until the movie ends. Popcorn and candy will be available.

Space is limited to 125 patrons, so get your tickets early! Please note: due to Covid-19 restrictions, groups are limited to parties of 6 or fewer and masks will be required when not seated.
