Eileen Lee will be presenting: Sewing with Your Handwoven Fabric.

Cutting into your handwoven fabric is a daunting idea. But then again, how many scarves and dishtowels can we really use? Eileen will help you become more comfortable with using your handwoven fabric, by covering how to choose a weave structure, how much fabric to weave, how to cut it, how to stop fraying, sewing pointers and several seams to use. She will include weaving tips and ideas.
Eileen has a textile background working for Levi Strauss and Co. for 18 years, responsible for product development, design, merchandising and sales. For 11 years she worked at Meadowfarm Yarn Studio in Nevada City, managing the shop, teaching and designing. Currently, she has a studio near her home teaching classes in weaving, knitting, spinning and dyeing.
The Foothill Fibers Guild was established over 30 years ago and serves the Sierra foothills. We hold monthly meetings in the Community Room at the Madelyn Helling Library, 980 Helling Way, Nevada City, CA, on the fourth Tuesday of the month, except in June, July, August, and December. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. for socializing and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Please attend one meeting at no cost, to decide if you wish to join.
Membership entitles you to attend all regular meetings, a bimonthly newsletter, occasional field trips, discounts for some guild-sponsored workshops, access to the guild Yahoo group, plus lots of information, fiber sources, and fun!
Annual dues are $35 per individual and $15 for members under 18. If you would like to join the Guild, email the FFG Web Manager and put 'Guild' in the subject, or print and complete the member application and mail it, with your membership check, to the address on the form.
